Spring clean your website - a complete check list

Spring is Finlay here! Before the busy holiday period, spend a bit of time on your website and give it a good spring clean.

Your website spring clean checklist (not in particular order)

  • Review pages - delete all old pages or hide them if you will need them in the future.

  • Check your online form (self-test) and update if needed.  (More about contact forms in this blog post )

  • Check that all links are working and fix broken links

  • Clear out clutter – look at photos and copy; ask yourself does it add value to my website visitor? If yes, keep if not delete!

  • Update images – perhaps you are using old and dated stock photos? Time to refresh with new ones or update with new professional branded photos

  • Icons – if your icons look old and dated – a fresh set that is more in trend can help lift up the page

  • Update you blog: when is your last blog post from? If more than a few months make sure you add some new blogs posts.

  • Update work examples – add new case studies / projects / portfolio to make sure you showcase your latest work.

  • Review your bio - is your headshot still relevant? Do you have any new accreditations to add?

  • Testimonials – replace old testimonials with new testimonials or set up an embedded review feed from Google to keep them always up to date.

  • Check links and feeds (as if anything changes on your socials the links and feed can break) -  if there a platform you do not use anymore, remove links.

  • Check your website on mobile, desktop, laptop and tablets – make sure it still looks good and works well on all devises.

If you need to update most of the points above it might be time for a whole refresh
