| Welcome to the first issue of Webby News!
Bing, Web2.0, Exlorer8, RIA, these are some of the latest hot topics talked about in the web world . The internet is dynamic, things change all the time and it is hard to keep up to date with everything while running a business! I developed Webby News in order to keep my clients up-to-date with new technologies, new services that I offer (as Webby is growing and improving services all the time!) and to provide an on-going education service on website related topics. I am offering this newsletter not only to my clients but to anyone who is interested, wether a business with or without a website, I believe that business should be more educated in this fast pace world. I hope that you will find the information in this issue useful for your business. The newsletter will be sent quarterly and will cover different topics each time. Bing is a search engine that finds and organizes the answers you need so
you can make faster, more informed decisions.
More and more people use
Bing so it is important for website owners to know about it. It displays the results in a way that is easier to make a decision. For example, if you hover with the mouse to the right of each result, a window appears with more text from the page, related topics are suggested and more. SEO is how well your website ranks in search engines results. It is hard
to get top rank for keyword search, especially if there are many
websites like yours. You can improve your rank by following some
of these tips: During design of website: Incorporate key words in your website content. Remember, text is very important for search results as the search engines can not read images. Choose key words for the 'meta tag' (website code) that you expect visitors to type when searching for a service you provide. include different ways of saying the same thing and common spelling errors. a good tool to use is Google Keyword Tool - see this link Make sure you include 'alt' text for each image as the search engines read this. Include relevant information to bring visitors into your website as text or PDF. This can be general articles in your industry (for example Webby has an articles page with some relevant info). Make sure your website is submitted with the top 3 search engines - Google, Bing, Yahoo!. Ongoing: Get links from websites to your websites. The more links you have from relevant & popular sites, the better. You can approach directories in your industry (for example a craft website will get a link from a craft directory) or general such as Yellow Pages. For some links you will be required to pay after a trial period. You can check statistics on your website after the trial to see which referral site worked best for you before paying a fee. Offer links from your site and some will offer a discount. Refresh the text/content regularly. the more updates there are on your site, the better as it is considered relevant and up to date for the search engines. and last, remember, it takes time! If your website is with Webby then you most likely know all of this as it is part of our development process. You only need to keep working on links to your site and update regularly. |
