7 Ways to Get Your Website Ready for the Christmas Holiday Season

Christmas is coming!

The holiday season is here in 6 weeks. As you will decorate your shop front & put together special offers you also need to make sure your website is holiday season / Christmas ready.

Here are my tips and examples to help you get your website ready for Christmas.

Dress up your website for Christmas:

/ HOME PAGE BANNER

Replace your regular banner with a festive banner or add to your slide sow. It can be the same image with some Christmas elements added or a dedicated banner if you offer special Christmas products.

/ UPDATE SEO KEYWORDS

If you have a product or service that is special for Christmas (can be a Christmas gift, event..) don’t forget to update your on site and back end (meta tags) with some Christmas related keywords such as ‘Christmas gift for him’ ‘catering for Christmas party’ .

If you can create a dedicated page for these products and add relevant text, write blog posts to help promote.

/ FESTIVE LOGO

Some brands can create a ‘Christmas version’ of their logo. This is especially important for business that offer products or services for the holiday season. It can be a change od colour or added elements.

/ UPDATE PRODUCTS & SERVICES

If you manage on only shop, crate special collection for holiday stock and add products to make it easy for visitors to find.

Add a Christmas Gift Card and special offers leading to Christmas.

/ ANNOUNCEMENTS & POPUPS

Use Announcement bar or popups to communicate cut of dates for orders, closer times or sales.

/ CONTACT PAGE

Make sure you update your trading hours with special holiday hours to let visits know when you are closed.

/ HAVE SOME FUN!

A great way to add some excitement to your site, an online countdown for Christmas. This can be done on your site or on social media.

An Advent style promotion is also a great way to re-fresh content by offering a special offer each day till Christmas.

There are many websites or plugins for Wordpress that offer a free countdown that you can personalize & embed.

Once you update your website don’t forget some other important Christmas brand updates – email signature, greeting cards and flyers. Read more in Blade Creative’s blog (decorate your brand for the festive season) https://www.bladecreative.com.au/insights/decorate-your-brand-for-the-festive-season
